Best in Short Film : Summer

I stumbled upon this short today. I thought I'd post it because I really enjoyed it. The images and shots were very nicely done, and the music set a really nice tone. It seemed almost lugubrious.

I think most of us have been in similar situations and have felt the same way. I really liked the ending. It hit pretty close to home. Growing up with a very old fashioned filipino family, I don't think I'll ever be able to tell my parents about my sexuality. My sister and all my close friends know, but I don't wear my sexuality on my sleeve. If someone were to ask, then I'd tell them. :)

everybody's talking about this short film today!

Well, tiggah I can say the same thing about me. I prefer to be normal - meaning people not giving a big fuss about what i like. but if people ask me, i'd tell them right away

that is a nice short, I can relate to the situation. But I eventually told my parents and my mom was ok but my dad was in denial for a while but he eventually was ok, but I know for sure I can't be talking to him about that stuff, but I know he has to accept me for what I am.

great post!

I realize everyone's situation is different, but never say never. I'm Filipino too, and painful as it was, I came out to my parents when I was in college. We didn't talk about it for years after that. Gradually my mom and I talked about it once in a while, but it was like denial with my dad. He's since passed away, and I regret not having real conversations about it with him; the saving grace is that he did meet my partner (or "friend," as they say) a few times and I know that my dad liked and trusted him. LOL, ok, not to be a downer... ;-)

Thanks for posting that film! It's really moving and well made.

"lucky blue" at youtube is another great gay themed short film as well

I saw this film at least a year ago. Do you have cable TV? It's from the Logo Channel -a gay channel.
I'm sure your mother knows you're gay. Mother's are curious. You are a celebrity -all over the internet. She knows. Even if she has no internet, some other mother told her. Relax. Where does she think you live? Alone?

--> I like it better than 'Summer'. You might want to watch it. I couldn't stop my tears from falling. ;(

I think your parents probably suspect that there is something happening. Parents are a lot more perceptive then we give them credit for being. You're in your twenties now but as you hit your thirties and beyond it becomes more apparent and the notion of confirmed bachelor doesn't fit the traditional Filipino family either. I not saying you should come to your parents, but good looking people who aren't married raise eyebrows. I personally like the Japanese method of don't ask don't tell.

I've seen this a month or so back.
It was nice.

I also fell in love with my best friend. Then a had a full 5-year relationship with him. I asked him to marry me. He broke my heart by explaining he didn't like labels, was going to marry a woman and have a kid, which he has done. I still carry that broken heart baggage.

Tiggah. Your mom knows LOL. You indeed are a celebrity. And all the moms ma dal dal (did I spell that correctly?). Of course she will be proud of you, just look at Pooh, you certainly married well.

Not wanting to get too far away from the falling in love with your best friend thing, I must say that the king of all gay world clashing with traditional families has to be Ang Lee's "The Wedding Banquet". And I agree with the previous commentator. Mothers always know when their son is gay. They may deny it, but they know. Love you guys.

I'm Filipino and came out to my dad because he was suspicious but wasn't pressuring me to come out.
He met my boyfriend and he was very diplomatic and as understanding as he could be. I am a only child so that makes it extra hard to accept. But he did
Now, I just have to come out to my mum. But Somehow I feel she knows already.
My partner's family.......that's another story!!!!
